When a hot water heater fails, a new hot water heater can restore hot water and protect the house from leaks. MSP handles the full water heater installation project from start to finish. We remove the old unit, set the new water tank, and connect water supply lines, gas lines or electrical supply, drain pan, discharge pipe, and pressure relief valve. Our goal is proper installation that follows local building codes and supports safe water flow and water temperature in the home.

Size of the tank

Tank water heaters are sized by gallons of hot water the water tank can hold. Common sizes range from 30 to 80 gallons. The plumber reviews family size, number of fixtures, and hot water use to suggest the right size for the Minneapolis home.

Difficulty of the installation

Some jobs are simple water heater replacement in the same location. Others need more work. Extra work can include new gas pipe, changes to water lines, adjustments to venting for a gas water heater, or upgrades to meet local building codes. Work can also involve proper drainage to a floor drain, new drain pan, and new discharge pipe for the pressure relief valve. More work leads to higher cost.

Our 5-star tank water heater installation process

We schedule a visit to the home

The process starts with a phone call or online request. A service member records the location, current water heater details, and preferred date and time. A visit can often be set for the same day or next few days, depending on schedule.

We discuss hot water needs

When the plumber arrives, they review family size, number of bathrooms, fixtures, and hot water habits. They may check the old water heater, gas supply, water supply, drain pan, and nearby floor drain. Questions about water temperature, energy efficiency, and water flow are welcome during this step.

We help select a tank system

The plumber explains options such as gas water heater, electric hot water heater, tank size, and any needed expansion tank. They also review water lines, shut off valve, main water shut off, and any need for a thermostatic mixing valve or pressure reducing valve. Upfront pricing is shared for each option so the homeowner can choose the new unit that fits the home and budget.

We install the water heater

You sit back and relax while we install your water heater. We'll make sure you're getting hot water and everything is ready to use before we leave. We'll also clean up after ourselves and answer any questions you have about your brand new tank water heater system!
