Flushed the water heater to clear out heavy debris and checked the condition of the tank, then replaced the worn-out anode rod to help protect the system. After another rinse, everything was running smoothly and no other plumbing issues were found during the visit.
Removed the old water softener, installed a new 9” unit, and cleaned the floor drain when it backed up during testing. Replaced the tub drain through the access panel and checked it several times under full water pressure to make sure the leak was gone.
Cut open the wall below the washer box, removed the corroded dual shutoff valve, and installed two new quarter-turn laundry valves. Purged the lines, checked everything for leaks, and reconnected the washer so it was ready to use again.

Prior Lake treats city water for iron and manganese, but does not soften it. That distinction matters when you choose a softener or investigate a water problem.
The city reports hardness at 19.3 grains per gallon. Ask us to test the water entering your home and review your softener setting. The city number is a guide for that check.
Removing iron at the plant does not remove hardness. Tell us if the concern is mineral spots, taste or another issue. Choose home treatment for a clear problem rather than a broad claim.
If you need a softener, discuss how many people use the home and when. Ask how the unit's cleaning cycle fits that use. A larger tank alone does not settle the choice.
A slow sink may need drain service even if you see hard-water spots nearby. Tell us how it drains and whether other fixtures back up. Do not assume water treatment will clear the pipe.
