80% Two-Stage Furnace Change-Out project in Saint Paul, Minnesota, photo 1 of 7

80% Two-Stage Furnace Change-Out

  • 1901 Montreal Ave, Saint Paul, MN 55116

Swapped in a Carrier Performance 80% two-stage gas furnace (58TP0B070V17–16). 90% option was ruled out on site due to no code-compliant vent path; kept existing B-vent with chimney liner/cap. Reused thermostat, EAC, drop & boot; removed humidifier. Added GFCI outlet (by EC), ran 5-wire to stat, installed a condensate pump, temp-wired and test-fired—final electrical by Powerhouse. System operates properly.

Rooftop AC Install project in Saint Paul, Minnesota, photo 1 of 9

Rooftop AC Install

  • Snelling Ave S, Saint Paul, MN 55116

Installed a Carrier condenser with matching cased coil via rooftop access, reused and flushed the lineset, and kept the existing thermostat, drop, and boot. Added 12 oz of refrigerant for the lineset, set airflow around 885 CFM, installed a condensate safety (“kill”) switch on the coil, and verified operation; charge left conservative due to ~50° outdoor temps.

Carrier AC Install project in Saint Paul, Minnesota, photo 1 of 10

Carrier AC Install

  • West Highland Parkway, Saint Paul, MN 55116

Installed a 2-ton Carrier condenser with matching coil, reusing and flushing the existing lineset and keeping the current thermostat. Built a new transition from coil to canvas, left the homeowner’s clean filter in place, and started the system to confirm solid cooling.

Heating and cooling in Highland Park, MN

Fit Highland Park systems to the house

Highland Park is part of Saint Paul. Our work there shows why roof access, furnace vents, and the existing controls can matter as much as the equipment you choose.

Compare access needs

MSP's Snelling Avenue South AC install used rooftop access. Tell us where every unit sits. A quote should plan the way in and out before the old system is taken apart.

Check heat and cooling separately

At Montreal Avenue, a vent limit shaped the furnace choice. At West Highland Parkway, cooling work needed a duct transition. Each half of your system deserves its own fit check.

Decide what controls stay

Several Highland Park jobs kept the existing thermostat. Tell us if you like yours or want a change. We can explain what fits the new system and what wiring would be needed.

Keep records under Saint Paul

The city lists Highland as District 15. Use the full Saint Paul address for past permits and planned work. That keeps the review tied to your home and the right city.

Before your service call

For an HVAC quote, tell us which unit needs help first. Include roof access, a tight utility room, or any known limit on the vent route.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I schedule HVAC maintenance?
You should schedule HVAC maintenance services at least once a year. A tune-up helps your system run efficiently, lowers energy costs, and prevents costly repairs. Regular maintenance also extends the life of your furnace or air conditioning system.
What are the signs my air conditioner or furnace needs repair?
Watch for warning signs like strange noises, weak airflow, short cycling, uneven room temperatures, or higher energy bills. If your unit struggles to keep you comfortable, it’s time to call for service before the problem gets worse.
Do you offer emergency HVAC service in Highland Park?
Yes. Heating and cooling problems don’t wait for business hours. That’s why we provide emergency HVAC services in Highland Park and the Twin Cities. When your heat goes out in winter or your air conditioning stops on a hot day, our team is ready to respond right away.
How does your pricing work? Will I get surprise charges?
We give upfront, fixed-price quotes before we start any job. There are no surprise fees or hidden charges. You’ll know exactly what the repair, replacement, or installation will cost, so you can make the right decision for your home.
How long does an HVAC repair or installation take?
Most repairs take just 1–2 hours, depending on the issue. A new furnace or air conditioning installation is usually completed in a single day. We work quickly but carefully to get your home comfortable again without cutting corners.
Do I need to replace my HVAC system or can it be repaired?
Not always. Many problems can be fixed with a professional repair of your HVAC components . But if your system is over 12–15 years old, breaks down often, or costs too much to run, replacement may save you money in the long run. Our technicians will explain your options and never pressure you.
What brands of HVAC equipment do you service?
We repair and maintain all major HVAC brands and models. Whether you have a furnace, boiler, heat pump, or air conditioner, our team has the tools and training to get it running again.
Do you offer financing for new HVAC systems?
Yes. We provide flexible financing options to make replacing your furnace or air conditioner more affordable. That way, you can enjoy comfort now and pay over time.
Why should I choose an HVAC maintenance plan instead of paying as I go?
Our Total Comfort Club saves you money by including free diagnostics, priority scheduling, and discounts on repairs. Members often spend less each year for air conditioning and heating system maintenance compared to paying for emergency repairs. It also helps prevent breakdowns before they happen.
How do I know if my home needs better air quality services?
If you notice dust buildup, allergies, dry air, or odors in your home, you may benefit from air quality solutions like duct cleaning, humidifiers, or air purifiers. These systems help you breathe easier and stay healthier.

MSP did such a great job in my A/C install I chose them to replace my heating boiler. Once again I got exceptional service from both Dave Johnson, the estimator and Jefferson Hanson, the installer. Jefferson was efficient, extremely knowledgeable and respectful of the workspace. I cannot recommend MSP enough.

Plumbing under sink needed to be replaced because the glued joints were leaking. Tom Miller did great work! We also had to have the drain line that runs underneath the basement slab cleaned and Donovan did an excellent job also despite having problems with some of the equipment. Overall I would use them again without hesitation.
