A Minneapolis home with a 12-year-old boiler lost heat entirely. The tech diagnosed a failed autofill valve, the component responsible for maintaining proper water pressure in the system. Without it working, the boiler couldn't maintain pressure and shut down. A new autofill valve was installed, the system was brought back up to operating pressure, and heat was restored the same afternoon.
A Minneapolis homeowner's boiler kept shutting off and wouldn't stay running. The tech diagnosed a failed circulator pump, the component that moves hot water through the radiators. The correct Taco replacement pump was ordered and a return visit was scheduled to install it once the part arrived. Heat was fully restored on the second visit.
A Minneapolis homeowner's 15-year-old boiler was heating most of the house but one zone had gone completely cold. The tech found two separate issues: a failed zone valve head that was preventing hot water from reaching that zone, and a fouled pilot assembly with a worn thermocouple. Both were repaired in the same visit, zone valve head replaced, pilot assembly cleaned, thermocouple replaced, and the boiler was tuned up while the tech was there.
A Minneapolis homeowner's lower level was overheating, the boiler was running that zone constantly and they'd had to shut the whole system down. The tech diagnosed a failed expansion tank, which is responsible for absorbing pressure as hot water expands through the system. On a 10-year-old boiler, expansion tanks wear out as the internal bladder loses its ability to hold air pressure. The old tank was swapped out and the system restored to normal operation.
A Minneapolis homeowner scheduled a fall tune-up on their 17-year-old furnace before the heating season started. During the inspection, the tech found a gas line issue that needed to be addressed, not something you want heading into a Minnesota winter. The gas repair was completed same visit, and the furnace tune-up was performed to get the system ready for the season.
Replaced a 24-year-old furnace and 25-year-old AC system with a new 97% efficiency Carrier furnace, Carrier heat pump condenser, and 3-ton cased A-coil at this Northeast Minneapolis residence. The team flushed and reused the existing lineset, ran new low-voltage wiring to the condenser, and installed an Ecobee 7 smart thermostat with a new surge protector and return air setup. Job completed in a single day with four technicians on-site, including a coordinated electrical visit for permit work.
MSP installed a whole-home air-source heat pump, central air handler, heat pump water heater, mini-split head, and ERV in my 1940s Minneapolis home a year or so ago.
